DELAY THE ELECTION!
Civil & Voting Rights Groups Call upon Gov. Evers to Postpone April 7 Election Due to Health Emergency
WISCONSIN—On Monday, March 23, 2020, at 11:00 am CDT, civil and voting rights organizations will join public health professionals to hold a virtual press conference. Community leaders echo the burgeoning chorus and call on Governor Tony Evers to issue an emergency order to postpone the April 7 election.
Polling places will be unsafe and insecure—for both voters and poll workers. Conditions will violate CDC guidelines and the Governor’s order regarding crowd size. Voters and poll workers will avoid locations, resulting in a depressed voter turnout that will effectively disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters resulting in an election that will be neither meaningful, free, nor fair.
