MILWAUKEE – On Friday, President Trump declared a national emergency in a bid to spend billions of dollars not authorized by Congress to build more walls along the US-Mexico border. Trump’s declaration follows Congress’ explicit refusal to fully fund his efforts to build a border wall. Voces de la Frontera issued the following response:

“For an administration marked by authoritarianism and white nationalism, this is a serious escalation,” said José Flores, President of Voces de la Frontera. “We urge Democrats and Republicans, especially Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson, to support legislation to overturn the President’s decision and show that the US is not a dictatorship. This emergency declaration is a transparent fraud. Families seeking safety are not an emergency.
