CAPITAL CAMPAIGN LAUNCH:
¡Sí Se Puede! New Casa Campaign for Voces de la Frontera
Milwaukee, WI – Voces de la Frontera announced the launch of our capital campaign, ¡Sí Se Puede! New Casa Campaign, for a new building at our annual gala fundraiser on Friday, October 25, 2019. Over 550 community members attended the gala, including Governor Tony Evers and Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes.
Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera, shared with the crowd, “Anyone who walks into our current office sees a beehive of activity and will immediately notice how cramped and limited the space is, especially for community-driven programs like our highly regarded citizenship classes. After a six-year search, we believe we have found our new home, in the heart of the Latinx community in the near southside. We are thrilled to announce that an anonymous donor has pledged to match $3 for every $1 donated towards the capital campaign goal up to $400,000 now through December 31, 2019.”
Voces’ total fundraising goal is currently at $1.6 million with the goal of raising as much funds as possible before the end of the year to allow the organization to move into the new building in early 2020.
Neumann-Ortiz continued, “Voces’ vision is to continue to be a welcoming center for Wisconsin’s immigrant, refugee and Latinx families, youth and allies, and expand our current programs and services. A larger headquarters will provide more space to increase the number of community members served through our renowned citizenship program and legal clinic, better accommodate families, expand the creative endeavors of our artist collective, Voces de los Artistas, and allow for more space to hold large workshops and meetings for our adult and youth mass membership base.”
”Anna Dvorak, Development Director for Voces de la Frontera, said, “We are so excited to embark on this next chapter of our organization’s growth. This generous contribution speaks to the recognition of our critical work in the Latinx and immigrant rights movement in Wisconsin and nationally as well as a belief in the vision and impact of what Voces can achieve in the future. We invite members of our organization and the broader community to join us in this journey by donating their time or resources to help move us toward our campaign goals.”

Voces has identified a building on the Southside of Milwaukee located at 733 W. Historic Mitchell Street and is currently working with Melissa Goins and Joanne Sabir through their new consulting firm, Freedom Endeavors, on the pre-development phase. Voces’ plan is to increase the space for offices and programs and have additional tenant spaces available for nonprofits and businesses that complement Voces’ mission.
