(Milwaukee, December 21, 2024) — As a pro-immigrant, pro-worker organization, we firmly denounce the recent efforts to intimidate Milwaukee’s immigrant communities through the distribution of flyers on the city’s Southside that spread false information, racism, and calls for mass deportation. These hateful acts are a direct result of MAGA rhetoric, which emboldens bullies to weaponize fear and division against immigrants and other marginalized groups.

Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera, stated:

“Make no mistake: our community will stand strong against any attempts to intimidate, harass, or harm working-class families from diverse backgrounds. This is just the beginning of what promises to be a cruel and divisive Trump presidency, and we will not allow this dangerous rhetoric to prevail. We are organizing a coalition of diverse allies to confront these hateful tactics. We are empowering immigrants, Latines, and BIPOC youth with the knowledge and tools to defend their rights and resist intimidation.”

Voces de la Frontera is hosting a series of Know Your Rights workshops and offering other opportunities to take action. For more information, people can contact us at (414) 643-1620.

About Voces de la Frontera

Voces de la Frontera is a membership-based community organization led by low-wage workers, immigrants, and youth whose mission is to protect and expand civil rights and workers’ rights through leadership development, community organizing, and empowerment.

Voces members and team strive to create a world where all people live free of poverty and discrimination, have access to safe, dignified work, quality education, and health care; where immigrants can cross borders with dignity, and human rights and workers’ rights are respected; where the government is proper “of the people,” and all families thrive.
