No 287g

287g is a discriminatory program that turns local law enforcement into immigration agents, with the power to investigate immigration status and separate immigrant families.

Under the Trump Administration, 287g was expanded to be used to facilitate Trump’s mass deportation machine and terrorize immigrant communities and communities of color. 287g was implemented in 2017 without public input in these eight Wisconsin counties: Waukesha, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Marquette, Brown, Fond du Lac, Lafayette and Waushara.

Day Without Latinxs and Immigrants general strike and march on May 1, 2018 in downtown Waukesha protesting 287g.

287g has a record of increasing racial profiling, contributes to family separation and undermines public safety. Voces calls for the abolition of the 287g program at the local, state and federal level.

Voces encourages everyone to call their county supervisor and local sheriff where 287g has been implemented to say you don’t want this program in your community.

We also encourage everyone, especially mixed-status families and undocumented individuals, to know their legal rights regardless of immigration status.
