VDLF DEAL IMAGE

Dear supporter,

I would like to extend a warm invitation  for you to Voces de la Frontera’s Gala de  Colores on Friday December 12 2014 at  the Hyatt Regency located at 333 W  Kilbourn Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53203.

There will be a VIP cocktail hour with our  Keynote speaker, Pulitzer Prize winning  journalist Jose Antonio Vargas starting at 5pm,  dinner starts at 6:00pm, and the program at  6:30pm, followed by music and dancing  beginning at 7:30pm.

Your generosity allows Voces de la Frontera to continue its statewide leadership role in the passage of federal immigration reform, and administrative relief.  The fight for the rights of minority voters, teachers and students continues, and so do our efforts to organize and develop leadership among low-wage workers that live in cities like Milwaukee, Green Bay, LaCrosse, Kenosha, Walworth and Racine.

I hope that you are able to sponsor the gala or purchase tickets to this wonderful event. Your contribution at whichever level is meaningful to you helps us continue this great work, that without you, wouldn’t be possible- see you on December 12th.

Sincerely,

Christine Neumann-Ortiz

Executive Director

About this year’s gala

Theme
Our theme embodies unity, that we are all together in the fight for immigration equality. De colores is an old Mexican folkloric song that talks about the changing colors that different seasons bring; the beauty in change and new beginnings. This song has become one of Latin America’s most beloved and a staple for many immigrant families. Additionally, it was the song most often heard during the United Farm Workers’ struggle, as they marched often for miles demanding fair wages, and dignified working conditions.

Jose Antonio Vargas is a Pulitzer Prize winning undocumented journalist from the Philippines. He was brought to the United States as a child, and in his documentary titled “Documented” which aired on CNN, he recounts the challenges of being an undocumented American and the continuous struggle for those who remain in the shadows, as well as for those who decide to come out. Nationally recognized for his bold stance in defense of immigrant rights, he will address our guests at this year’s gala.
