Scope of work:
- Drive an ambitious program of base building among grassroots leaders to fight for and win bold progressive policy change at the local, state and national levels in the areas of immigrant and worker’s rights. The OD will be a seasoned organizer, team builder and a creative and strategic thinker with a proven track record in base-building, leadership development and winning campaigns
- Facilitate quality work on behalf of the organizing staff and coordination between all the
- organizing components of Voces and Voce de la Frontera Action; the regional grassroots chapter work, youth work, electoral work, the worker organizing work and membership. The organizing director will work in coordination and under the direction of the executive director.
- Lead Grassroots Organizing and Leadership Development
- Support organizers to build a powerful base of leaders in key areas of WI
- Develop and support a leadership training program focused on building power and providing political education to members.
- Create and Drive Issue Campaigns
- Lead strategic direction of issue campaigns with a focus on building power, which includes building economic power, aligning campaigns to civic engagement and elections, and changing the dominant narrative to uphold the dignity and contributions of immigrants.
- Grow VDLF’s base. Lead process to develop long-term agendas and power analysis for various campaign areas (immigrant rights, education and democracy reform) with staff, grassroots leaders and coalitions.
- Plan and lead direct actions with staff, leaders and coalitions.
- Team Management and Leadership Effectively partner with the ED, Senior Team, Board to develop and carry out a bold vision for progressive or transformational change in WI
- Effectively build, support and manage a team of organizers invested in building power and establishing deep relationships with members and centering leadership among grassroots leaders.
- Partner with the ED, Dev Dir to raise and manage funds to match a growing organization
- Establish a healthy performance-oriented culture that balances rigor, support and accountability. Put systems in place to measure and track progress; regular planning and evaluation.
- Manage organizing staff and deeply invest in their leadership.
Job Responsibilities
- Inform and implement the strategic plan passed by members at the annual meeting and yearly work plan
- Supervise, support and evaluate statewide political director, statewide youth director and regional organizing staff and Essential worker coordinator. This includes ensuring a yearly work plan with progress benchmarks, weekly work plans and progress reports are happening as well as daily check-ins.
- Assist in large scale actions and events such May Day, the annual assembly, and the annual Gala
- Oversee the supervision of all organizing staff under the direction of political director and youth director, and the Essential Worker Rights Network team.
- Organize weekly organizer meetings
- Attend weekly senior staff meetings
- Attend weekly administrative meetings when relevant
- Staff weekly Ed meeting to report on organizing work

Nature of Work: The role of the Development Director (DD) is to develop and implement a strategic plan in collaboration with key staff and stakeholders to raise and grow vital funds to fulfill Voces de la Frontera and Voces de la Frontera Action’s mission to protect and expand the rights of low-wage workers, immigrants, and their families. The two primary responsibilities are to oversee and grow our individual donor sustaining membership base, and organize major fundraising events. The DD is accountable to the Executive Director (ED) and reports to the ED and board on a regular basis. The DD has an outreach role in the organization in developing and maintaining an ongoing relationship with major donors.
Note: This position will include work for both Voces de la Frontera and our 501(c)4 sister organization Voces de la Frontera Action, as part of our efforts to support pro-immigrant legislation and electoral candidates and raise up the Latinx and youth vote.
Responsibilities:
- The primary responsibility of the DD is to develop and execute an annual fundraising plan with new prospects, existing funding sources, fundraising activities and events
- Work with Grants Director to develop and track grant proposals and reports for all foundation, union and business fundraising
- Grow sustaining membership base

- Experience with full range of fund development duties, including individual donor campaigns, grant writing, budgetary knowledge and member-to-member campaigns

Welcome Center Director (Full Time)
Scope of work:
The goal of the position is to coordinate and expand legal services and resources for diverse immigrants and refugees in the City of Milwaukee. This position will also serve as a liaison to allied immigrant and refugee organizations that want to form a strategic partnership for Voces’ Welcome Center of Milwaukee. Facilitate the development of worker centers in key areas of the state.
Job Duties:
- Identify, recruit, and supervise Milwaukee Worker Center organizer/paralegal.
- Provide program support to Voces’ New American Program, Caminos legal services, Multi-lingual Citizenship Clinics, Know Your Rights Forums (including asylum, deportations, immigrant labor rights), vaccine clinics, and Emergency Relief efforts.
- Facilitate and coordinate new services to the Voces worker’ center that will benefit the immigrants and refugees and the communities they live in.
- Identify and engage diverse immigrant & refugee community partners to work collaboratively with Voces to enhance services and referrals to the immigrant and refugee population and create a Welcome Center that is as a citywide comprehensive service provider referral hub. Identify gaps and strategize with VDLF other partners to address.
- Organize and facilitate Worker center team meetings
- Track contacts and services provided; produce monthly board and grant reports
- Attend Voces staff meetings and coordinate efforts so as to maximize services
- Work with the Communications Department of voces to spread the word on how immigrants and refugees can take advantage of services provided by the Welcome center.
- Work with the Development Department to expand the funding base for the welcome center.
- Work with New American Volunteer Coordinator, Deputy Director of Operations, Worker Center Organizer and key leaders to oversee recruitment, orientation and volunteer management.
- Identify key partner community-based organizations, multilingual interpreters, bilingual immigration and labor attorneys in diverse languages of major immigrant and refugee populations in the City of Milwaukee (such Hmong, Burmese, etc.) to provide culturally competent legal services.
- Maintain and update a Voces manual/resource book of services and potential referrals & keep up-to-date.
- Facilitate the development of workers centers in key areas of the state.

Communications Director (CD) (full-time)
We are seeking a bilingual Communications Director to work with members, staff, and the Executive Director to develop and implement a strategic communications plan to complement statewide organizing efforts to engage both immigrant and key non-immigrant constituencies to fight for justice for immigrants and all working class and poor people. This will include earned media, online communications, and internal communications directed toward members and allies. The position is based in Milwaukee and will work out of our main headquarters.
The ideal candidate is deeply committed to the immigrant rights movement, an excellent writer, a news junkie, and committed to harnessing the power of social media for progressive change. The ideal candidate will also be able to respond rapidly to factors which impact our campaigns, short and long term and organizational goals. This individual will work closely with the Executive Director and feel comfortable working independently.
Job duties:
- Work with the Executive Director and program staff to develop and implement the organization’s strategic communications plan, lead strategic planning process for communications
- Work with Executive Director, staff and member-leaders to create and implement communications strategy for campaigns
- Develop talking points and prepare members and staff for speaking roles at public events and in the press
- Research, write, and preparing media packets and informational materials for meetings and events
- Write press releases and press advisories, pitch media for coverage, and follow up with media for events and interviews
- Monitor and track media outlets and archive news coverage
- Maintain database of media contacts, allies, members, supporters, and contributors
- In coordination with bilingual staff and volunteers translate bilingual written and online materials
- Represent Voces in national communications calls, convenings, and press events when necessary
- Supervise and collaborate with volunteers, interns and other communications staff

- Taking photographs and video at events for social media

Statewide Coalition Organizer
Note: This position will include work for both Voces de la Frontera and our 501c4 sister organization Voces de la Frontera Action (VDLFA).
Job Description: Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating activities associated with Voces de la Frontera (VDLF) partner organizations and coalitions including: general oversight of coalition activities and associated projects; and organizing assistance to local/regional coalitions and partnerships. The Statewide Coalition Organizer will work to develop and implement strategies that will lead to long-term involvement of community institutions, organizations and individuals in VDLF statewide campaigns. This role will be based out of Madison, WI and reports primarily to the Organizing Director.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience with organizing in community setting
- Proven ability to work independently
- Understanding of Voces De La Frontera role in serving and activating the community.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer skills
- Proven record and experience in coalition organizing and in fomenting relationships with community based organizations.
Statewide Coalition Organizer Actions
- Coordinate with the Executive Director, Political Director and Organizing Director on VDLF initiatives and policy goals.
- Work to expand VDLF influence in different parts of the state in partnership with local allies and organizations.
- Work to foment new relationships with elected officials in concert with VDLF legislative priorities.
- Establish Voces leadership and coalition liaisons with elected officials on an ongoing basis to advance Voces campaigns and provides updates on Voces issues
- Attend training and events via zoom, scheduled by the Organizing director
- Weekly check-ins with Executive Director, Political Director and Organizer Director for any guidance on building and maintaining relationships with partner organizations.

Position Description:
The Facilities and Administrative Services Manager leads and coordinates all of the necessary office support services, including physical plant management, space management, and supply purchasing for the Milwaukee Office. Key functions include managing building and grounds maintenance activities. During the construction process the manager will provide support to the contractors, architects and city representatives. This position reports to the Deputy Director of Operations (DDO).
Phase 1 – Principal Responsibilities:
Construction & General Logistics Manager Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the architects to finalize the design and start the permit process as well as city representatives from the department of neighborhood association to finalize permits.
- Work with certified local construction companies on the bid process to obtain and solidify a contract to do the construction work.
- Manage and organize all building repairs in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Operations.
- Respond and manage requests by Voces program staff to use our meeting facilities while construction is being done
- Identify & secure all needed building materials, in consultation with the architects, in order to avoid delays in renovations also including taking actions in resolving issues/delays due to unexpected bad weather and/or emergencies.
- Detailed weekly updates with DDO, Executive Director and senior team.
- Be responsible for ensuring project budgets are adhered to
- Coordinate with VDLF building committee; identify potential volunteer workers and renovation donations. Work with architects and contractors to determine when/how volunteer laborers and material donations might be availed
- Meet with and Represent VDLF in meetings with local business association.
- Meet with local law enforcement and develop relationship along with DDO.
- Assist with bids and plan for moving from old office to new office
Phase 2 – Principal Responsibilities:
General Building Services and meeting space responsibilities
- Work with IT and reception coverage staff to coordinate technology support along with conference room reservations for internal and external meetings.
- Maintain vendor relationships and prepare and track invoicing process. Provide guidance and make recommendations.
- Manages space within the building, ensures that shared common spaces by assisting with the reconfiguration of meeting space as needed
- Troubleshoot a variety of general facilities related requests from staff.
- Ensure workstations are ready for use for new employees (provide starter supplies, ensure waste and recycle baskets are in place, etc.) and update floor plans to reflect current seating assignments as needed.
- Manages inventory for office supplies, ensure facilities closet is organized and stocked for meetings. Receive, distribute and stock office and kitchen supplies when delivered.
- Coordinates and supervises contract for cleaning and facilities services.
- Ensures vending machine is stocked regularly, contact appropriate vendor as necessary.
- Develop moving/move-in plan including identifying potential assistance needed and costs/budget in collaboration with DD of Ops
- Monitors temperatures in conference rooms and makes appropriate adjustments when required.
- Provide security keys to new and existing staff when necessary.
- Coordinate repair and replacement of office furniture.
- Daily distribution of incoming USPS mail.
- Maintain shipping and postage supplies and equipment.

Welcome Center Bilingual Immigration Paralegal/Senior Legal Assistant (full-time)
Paralegal Job Duties and Responsibilities
Worker Center Support:
- Oversee Milwaukee Worker center workers and volunteers to ensure good screening and basic knowledge of legal rights that meet criteria for a legal challenge and/or organizing opportunity
- When needed, works with walk-in clients to fill out an intake sheet and provides worker center intake sheets to be entered into our database system (EA) for follow up.
- Works with Welcome Center Director and key staff to tracks contacts and services provided; follow up and outcomes to produce monthly board and grant reports
- Attend Voces staff meetings and coordinate efforts so as to maximize legal services
- Work with worker center staff to maintain and update a Voces manual/resource book of services and potential referrals & keep up-to-date.
- Membership – Recruits membership for all walk-in clients
Assist Voces Welcome Center attorney in
- Screening potential cases
- Preparing family immigration applications and other applications as necessary;
- Preparing and filing motions to reopen and reconsider with USCIS
- Receiving legal calls, schedule appointments, and giving information for cases that the Voces attorney is working on
- Assist in all deportation cases; specifically working directly with family members, contacting holding facilities to find affected family members, assisting with the bond process.
- Meet weekly with Voces staff and key leaders for case management continuity
- Provide translating services for attorneys, walk-in’s Legal Clinic Schedule and Confirm Attorneys
- Work with Workers Compensation Attorneys, Immigration Attorneys
- and Labor Rights Attorneys to schedule legal clinic dates
- Assist in written and oral communication (translation) for individual cases as needed
