A national leader in the immigrant youth movement, Erika served as the Press Secretary for Latino Outreach for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 Presidential Campaign and was the Political Director of the campaign’s successor organization Our Revolution. She co-founded the Arizona Dream Act Coalition and the later Dream Action Coalition. She served on the National Coordinating Committee for United We Dream. Erika is currently the Communications Director for the Movement Voter Project. Her personal struggle as an undocumented woman herself, with an undocumented family, has given her the drive and the passion to keep fighting for immigrant and human rights.

Voces de la Frontera is needed now more than ever. Trump has taken away TPS protections from refugee families, he has stolen DACA from immigrant young people, and current DACA recipients are in limbo. We have seen a dramatic increase in ICE arrests, and almost every day, we provide assistance to families threatened by deportation.
At the same time, we have won inspiring victories in the face of these white nationalist attacks. Milwaukee County will have a pro-immigrant sheriff for the first time in 20 years. Paul Ryan is retiring, and more Latinx voters will vote in November in Wisconsin than ever in history.
