“Voces de la Frontera and our youth arm Youth Empowered in the Struggle stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
“We stand in solidarity with the family of George Floyd, Tyrese West, Dontre Hamilton, Jose Acevedo, and so many others who have lost a loved one due to institutionalized racism and police violence.
“Black, Latino, Asian and indigenous communities share a common struggle as people of color. Racial profiling, criminalization, incarceration, the break up of families, and economic exploitation in the hardest and least paid jobs. In this capitalist system, the richest maintain their power by pitting one group against the other. We cannot let them do that.
“The mass protests that have been unleashed have to continue to challenge those intuitions and individuals that are not protecting our human, civil and labor rights. “
Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director, Voces de la Frontera
