Social Security No Match letters


Voces de la Frontera was a national leader in the campaign against a Bush-era crackdown on workers using Social Security 'No Match' letters. Announced in 2007, the 'No Match' rule was caught up in legal challenges and finally abandoned November 2009.

This section charts the success of the campaign against the 'No Match' rule.

That victory is tempered by the continuing threat of E-Verify, which has many similarities.

October 2007 - 2,500 marchers deliver a giant 'No Match' letter to the Downtown Milwaukee Social Security office.

September 2007 - Up to 10,000 say 'No' to 'No Match' rule at Milwaukee rally

July 2007 - Assisted by Voces de la Frontera workers at Ashley Furniture in Arcadia win a SS No Match victory, providing a strong example of what can be achieved by the unity of working people.

A Labour court ruling in October 2008 handed a further victory to Ashley workers.
