Across the country communities have been organizing for comprehensive immigration reform. In the past few months we have met with our local congressional leaders, 250,000 gathered in Washington DC in March, across the country over 500,000 marched for reform on May 1st, 65,000 in Milwaukee, and all across the country community leaders are escalating their movements and participating in civil disobedience. In the absence of comprehensive immigration reform, our local community continues to be devastated by broken immigration laws and families are continually separated by unjust deportations. In April, religious and community leaders in Chicago sat in front of deportation buses and were arrested. Tomorrow, they will be risking arrest once again, this time in front of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Chicago, and Wisconsin leaders Fr. Bill Brennan, S.J., and Maria Morales will be joining them. Join us at Voces de la Frontera before they leave for Chicago for a brief press conference.
